The Question

The 1880 census enters Hilliard Jr., 8, and Leon M., 6, as grandsons in the household of Hilliard and Bettie Taliaferro. Which of their children was the parent?

Where the Research Stands

A grandson entry establishes descent from the head of household without naming the intervening parent. Both boys are in the household at Rose Hill Precinct in 1880 and neither has been located in any other record entered here.
