The family tree holds family. This is the separate record of everyone else the documents place beside them: enslavers, estate holders, estate recipients, purchasers, associates, and people named in the same pages. These are historical relationships. None of them is a family relationship.

How to read this view

  • The Living Lineage shows genealogical relationships only — parents, children, siblings, spouses, and descent.
  • This network shows role-based historical relationships. A connection here records what the documents show one person did to, or alongside, another.
  • The two views never merge. A person can appear in both only when a separate, documented kinship claim exists in its own right.
