The 23 March 1855 notice names Hilliard alongside Joe, Ellis, Horace, Richard, Ann, Moses, Aggy, Paul, Anthony, and Agnes and her children. Enslaved people who move together through estate records frequently share kinship or plantation community. That is a research lead, not a finding: none of these people is entered here as a relative of Hilliard. Each name is a thread to follow into later Freedmen's Bureau, marriage, and census records.
